Robert Ballo is an image-maker and storyteller. He has established an environment at Shadowland where interesting scripts can be developed and made into even more interesting movies. His role is guiding the company artistically in finding, developing and creatively making movies as well as ensuring the financial success of the company for both its investors and its employees.

Robert’s experience includes co-producing and shooting the feature film Runnin’ at Midnite and serving as cinematographer on the feature comedy Starving Artists. As president of GOAL, he serves variously as producer, director and cinematographer. Producer-director credits include numerous broadcast and corporate programs for the Tournament of Roses, a series of hot air ballooning specials for Discovery Channel, and The Great Year, an independent television documentary examining the connection between astronomy and the history of civilization. As cinematographer, Robert shot Dirty Harry: The Original, a 30th anniversary retrospective television special for the Encore cable network, and DVD featurettes for Clint Eastwood’s Space Cowboys and Unforgiven 10th anniversary release. Robert is currently producing a series of DVD behind-the-scenes documentaries for Hollywood film producer Nu Image.

More than two decades of filmmaking and management experience includes featured segments for dozens of popular national programs, including Good Morning America, Leeza, Sci-Fi Buzz, Hollywood’s Greatest Stunts, Caryl & Marilyn, Movie Magic, Running and Racing World, How’d They Do That? and many more. In 2000, after working as an integral part of the GOAL team for 18 years, Robert took over ownership of GOAL Productions from founder Jack Oswald. Robert is also a member of the professional faculty at USC’s School of Cinema-Television and is an active contributor in the movie industry through his memberships in the International Cinematographers Guild and the Academy Television Arts & Sciences.

Bud Robertson creatively adds to the mix at Shadowland as both Writer and Producer. A hands-on Producer with years of management experience, Bud switches gears from executive to set operations to writing at the drop of a hat. Bud wrote the paranormal thriller Spectres, Shadowland’s debut picture shooting in June 2003.

Bud’s ability to oversee set operations and manage production staff has been honed by years of experience as both a Producer and Assistant Director in the feature film arena, where he earned a reputation for completing independent film productions on time and on budget. Producing credits include Life in the Spotlight and The Embrace. First Assistant Director credits include Under the Influence, Route 666, Cold Heart, Blood Money, The Secret Agent Club, Prey of the Jaguar, Firestorm and others. He also directed additional scenes for the science fiction feature Assault on Dome IV. No stranger to television, Bud produced the astronomy documentary The Great Year, line produced the revolutionary war television pilot Dawn of Our Nation, served as 1st AD on the critically acclaimed AMC cable series The Lot and coordinated network sitcoms Ellen and Temporarily Yours.

Bud’s produced writing credits include motion pictures Prey of the Jaguar and The Embrace as well as several episodes of the fantasy television series starring the Japanese superhero Ultraman. He is also currently writing and directing Beyond the Twilight Zone, a retrospective program about the classic Rod Serling television series for GOAL Productions. Bud has a degree in Motion Picture/Television production from UCLA.

A keen read and an eye for talent, Phil not only directs films produced by Shadowland, he also acts as point person in development and acquisitions.

Phil Leirness first demonstrated his directing talents while still a student in the UCLA film program, where he wrote and directed the award-winning short Through Nights that Never End. Writing, directing and producing credits followed in the feature film arena with the films ‘Til Death Do Us Part, The Party Crashers and a modern-day, English-language remake of The Story of O which is scheduled for an August 2003 release. Phil directed Spectres for Shadowland LLC and is developing several other projects Shadowland plans to produce in 2004.

When not engaged in feature projects, Phil directs industrial films, commercials and behind-the-scenes documentaries for DVD release. At GOAL, he has directed numerous “making of” shows, interviewing key cast and crew and supervising editorial to create DVD bonus shows for Try Seventeen, Undisputed, Guenivere, Submarines, Nobody’s Baby, Hard Cash, Death Train, Disaster, The Vampire Clan, Air Panic, and several monster movies for Nu Image.
